FTP (File Transfer Protocol) allows you to manage website files through an FTP client, such as FileZilla.
The best way to upload your website to your hosting account is through FTP, as you can easily and quickly mange your website's files directly from the FTP client. If you are using a website builder, such as Dreamweaver, you can enter your FTP details directly into the website builder for effortless website management.
Every web hosting account with Jolly Leaf has a default FTP account (therefore it is not necessary to setup another one, unless you wish to of course).
Connecting to FTP with the default FTP user
Every FTP client needs 4 things to establish an FTP connection:
- FTP Address/Host - This is your hosting account domain name or IP address.
- Username - This is your cPanel username
- Password - This is your cPanel password
- Port - This is port "21"
Once these details are entered into your FTP client and an FTP connection is established, your hosting account files can be managed and uploaded through the client.
Note: The files for your site will need to be uploaded to the public_html directory.
FileZilla is an easy-to-use FTP client, for both Linux and Windows. Click here to learn more about connecting to FTP via FileZilla.
